What's new

Ready Hand still changes often. The version on a saved card matches the one below, so a screenshot can always be placed — it names the build and nothing else, because how far a score can be trusted depends on which ruleset produced it and is said beside that ruleset.

Patterns and faan are two different things

0.98.1-beta · 19 Sep 2026

  • “81 patterns, eight points to go out” read as though a pattern were a point. It is not: a pattern is something your hand has, and points or faan are what it is worth — one pattern can be worth 1 or 88. Both introductions now say the range.
  • The flower panel under the keypad said “one point each, whatever your seat” on both tables. Under Hong Kong not one clause of that is true, and it was on screen before you had entered a tile.
Out of alpha — except Hong Kong, which says so

0.98.0-beta · 19 Sep 2026

  • Chinese Official has been checked fan by fan against the published competition rules and has scored hands at real tables since August. It is beta now: the answers are right and we are still looking.
  • Hong Kong Old Style is four days old, built from published tables that disagreed with each other, and has not yet settled an argument at a table. It carries “alpha” beside its name — on the style menu, on the result, and on the saved card, because a card leaves the app and gets quoted.
  • One label over both would have flattered one and libelled the other.
Learn says which game it is teaching

0.97.1-alpha · 19 Sep 2026

  • “See a hand that scores it”, under a pattern in Learn › Patterns, did nothing. It was setting up the hand and leaving you on the tab you were already on — it takes you to Hands now, showing that pattern rather than a random one.
  • Above the tabs, a line on the ruleset you are in — Learn swaps its whole contents between the two and until now nothing said which.
  • With it, something true you might not know: why Hong Kong has a ceiling at all, which two of the eight flowers are yours, why a hand worth nothing still scores eight in Chinese Official. A different one each time you open Learn, and “another” for the next.
Hong Kong lights its tiles too

0.96.0-alpha · 19 Sep 2026

  • Tap a pattern on a Hong Kong result and the tiles that earned it light up, the way they always have under Chinese Official. Tap 番牌 and the three dragons come forward; tap 小三元 and you get both pungs and the pair.
  • The flowers still point at nothing, because they are beside your hand rather than in it — the same answer Chinese Official gives.
Learn has a Patterns tab you can read straight through

0.95.0-alpha · 19 Sep 2026

  • Tiles, Patterns, Hands. Patterns lists every pattern the current ruleset pays for, biggest first — all 81 of Chinese Official, all 23 of Hong Kong — and typing filters it. Tap one for what it means and a hand that scores it.
  • Before this you could only search, and an empty box showed nothing. That is no use the day you switch ruleset: you cannot search for a pattern whose name you have never read.
  • The search has moved out of Hands, which now does one thing — roll a worked hand.

Only changes a player could notice are listed. Plenty of releases fix things nobody would ever have seen.
